Using visually rich titles from the Science Comics series, along with reference encyclopedias focused on physics, sharks, and dinosaurs, students will explore science concepts through clear explanations, visuals, and storytelling. In addition, selections from the History Smashers will help students connect historical events to real people, causes, and consequences in an approachable way. These materials will support curiosity-driven reading, strengthen background knowledge, and help facts \"stick\" by presenting information in formats that appeal to a wide range of learners. By making nonfiction inviting rather than intimidating, this project will encourage students to read independently, ask questions, and build lasting understanding across science and social studies topics.","fullyFundedDate":1767193997465,"projectUrl":"project/wham-zap-wow-facts-that-stick/9674507/","projectTitle":"Wham! These book clubs will encourage deeper comprehension, critical thinking, and respectful conversation as students share perspectives, ask questions, and build on one another's ideas. Because of your generosity, my students now have the writing materials they need to strengthen their skills, build confidence, and grow as writers throughout the school year.\r\n\r\nThese materials will be used daily as students plan, draft, revise, and reflect on their writing. Many of my students struggle with organizing their ideas or believing they are capable writers. With these tools, they will be able to break the writing process into manageable steps, revisit their thinking, and make purposeful revisions instead of feeling overwhelmed.\r\n\r\nThe impact of this project will go beyond individual assignments. Students will use these materials to practice explaining their thinking, supporting their ideas with evidence, and communicating clearly—skills that are essential not only in English class, but across all subjects and in life beyond the classroom. Over time, this consistent support will help students see writing as a process they can control and improve, rather than something to fear.\r\n\r\nYour support is creating a space where students' ideas will be valued and their voices encouraged.
