My Students

Playing.....might seem simple to most of us, but to children with developmental delays it is often difficult. Due to their disabilities they are unsure how to play and interact with others....they must be taught how to play and use their imaginations.

The students in my classroom are ages three to five with developmental delays.

My students love coming to school and visiting with all of the other students (grades PreK-3rd) in the hallways. They are energetic, spirited, loving, and caring. Many of my students are just learning to play due to their delays.....we work daily on having fun, using our imaginations, and interacting with others.

My Project

I am requesting cars and trucks and a play rug for these vehicles. I can hear the VROOMS! and HONKS! already. My students will be able to practice their play skills and also strengthen other areas of development. Many of my students are boys and they will love to play with the cars and trucks that I have requested.

Play skills are so important for these young children to learn.

As their play skills strengthen, so does their ability to interact with non-disabled peers. Play is a way to work on all aspects of development....thinking skills, problem solving skills, language skills, and math skills.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
