My Project

Although 50% of my students come from low-income areas, 0% of them have low-income mentalities. Although theatre is not considered a core subject, being involved in the process of creating art has the potential to do more to prepare a student for life than anything academic ever could. The two types of people in the world either buy into that, or don't. As a high school drama teacher, it's my job to help my students pursue a common goal and provide them with the tools they need to be successful. I suppose the difference is, meeting with success in math class is different than drama class because in drama class the end result is a performing art.

The whole point of preparing something in the performing arts is to - you know - perform it.

We are on a quest to upgrade the sound system in our auditorium, and this digital snake is just a small piece of a much larger puzzle. This vital piece of equipment will be utilized directly in student performances to improve the quality of their microphones. And if the audience can't hear them - what's the point? We have been plagued with consistent audio issues. None of this is my student's fault, yet it's they who suffer when their mic cuts out. Thank you for being a part of the solution, for realizing how vital arts education is in our schools.
