The clear jars I am requesting will allow each student group to collect one water sample from the school water fountain and one sample from the retention pond on campus to test 16 different parameters for comparison. Students will then be able to set up a lab, record observations, and analyze results.
Students become engaged when testing water quality directly relates to their daily lives.
This project will allow students to see the quality of drinking water they are being exposed to on a daily basis. It will also allow them to compare their "safe" drinking water to water collected from local runoff. A connection to areas where safe drinking water is not readily available helps students gain a global perspective.
