Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My students are a willing and hardworking group that is determined to make it through high school and into the best college of their choice. Despite attending a school with over 60% free and reduced lunch, with many having been in the country only a few years, they are determined to master the content necessary to make it to the next level. Math is an opportunity for students still new to a language to demonstrate on English standardized tests just how much they know.

Unfortunately, my students aren't able to access the best SAT and ACT test preparation materials necessary to score on the levels that their peers taking the test across the country have access to. My students are willing and ready to put in the time, now all they need are the materials necessary to get them there.

We need SAT Test prep books that will have banks of practice tests so kids can know where they are, what they need to work on, and practice test-taking techniques as the test approaches. Having banks of flashcards will allow them to practice together with other students, or on their own at home with parents or a sibling.

By donating just a little bit, you can help my students take the next step towards college by empowering them and their hard work, ensuring they're on equal footing with their more affluent peers when they walk into that testing room. You can make it possible for them to have the opportunity to succeed.
