Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Welcome to our Kindergarten room 2. I teach a wonderful group of 5-6 years old students. They are energetic, creative, and eager to learn because they know that they are life long learners.

Almost 83% of our school population come from low-income homes and our classroom is their safe haven with our classroom family.

My students come from the Melrose Park/River Grove area and face very real challenges every day, yet come to school eager to start the day and learn. I am here to support them for all their needs social, emotional, and academic. I want to make sure that my students are equipped with the skill set they need to succeed in life.

We have a very large and inclusive classroom. I have 17 students and they come from various backgrounds. We also have an inclusive classroom, which means we open our hearts to all kinds of learners and friends.

My Project

The iPads will be used during center time. I will be teaching a small group, and the students will be at various centers working on different areas of learning.

During literacy, the tablets will be used to practice reading skills and writing skills.

They will be able to do this independently which will allow them to take ownership of their learning. They will use applications like ABCya, Starfall, and Pearson Realize.

They will use them during math in the same way to practice mathematical fluency, and computation skills. They will use applications like ABCya and Pearson Realize. The children will enjoy learning in many different ways with these tablets.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
