My Students

My school is a high-needs, STEAM, middle school in southeast Charlotte. My students grapple with economic, academic, and cultural access. These students deserve more, and it is my obligation to provide equal access to high-quality education for all the students I serve. My students make my heart swell with so much pride to see them overcome challenges each and every day. I want to make sure that they can have the resources to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

Our school has built strong community partnerships that have helped my students and their families navigate the school year.

These relationships have been amazingly helpful, but we need more especially at this time as we return back to in-person learning.

My Project

Let's face it, students work very hard at school. They juggle classwork, extracurricular activities, and home responsibilities. Students are in environments for the majority of the day that places tremendous expectations on them. Many students work to the best of their abilities Monday through Friday, striving to make the most of their academic experience.

But how often do we celebrate, "Student Appreciation." I would like to let my students know that they are appreciated and I recognize their efforts.

I know that they are working hard and I would like them to know that I see all that they do. By providing goodies that they can eat as a special treat students may be encouraged to keep up the great work.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
