My Students

My 12 students are enrolled in a self-contained special education class at the Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd-grade level.

My students attend a Title I funded school in Brooklyn with a large English Language Learner population.

Our community is very diverse with many backgrounds and languages are represented in our school. Each year, many students enroll in our school after coming from their home country. Our school is the first place that many of these children visit upon coming to the United States. It is a wonderful place to learn because our school community recognizes the talents and abilities of every child and supports our new immigrant population by providing supports for students and their families. The disabilities affecting my students range from speech impairment, language delays, and learning disabilities.

My Project

I am requesting four HP touchscreen laptops to rebuild our technology inventory in our classroom. Since we went unexpectedly remote last year, all devices were distributed to students and families who need them at home. My students are blended in person. However, most of our school devices have been redistributed to our students who are fully remote this year. We need new devices so students can enjoy technology time again for academics as well as enrichment such as coding during the school day. All students have access to reading and math online learning platforms that they are unable to access while in school right now due to our device shortage. I am requesting 4 laptops for this project with hopes we can begin rebuilding our technology area. My students also receive some of their related services via an online platform while in school. This includes speech, occupational and physical therapy. The touchscreen devices make it very easy for my students with unique needs to navigate the screen.
