Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The energetic and amazing kindergarten students that will benefit from this project attend a rural, at-risk school where over 85% qualify for free and reduced lunch. Our students are absolutely amazing and our classes include EC students, ESL students, migrant students, students significantly below grade level readers to above grade level readers. Over fifty percent of our kids speak two languages. All of our students are loving, kind, and hardworking. They love to learn.

My Project

Kindergarten students learn best when they can use their hands to explore the world around them. My students spend a lot of time exploring numbers 0-10 and now they are ready to blast into the world of teen numbers!

The materials in this project will allow my students to identify, write, and build numbers 11 to 20.

These manipulatives will enable my students to develop a clear understanding of teen numbers and how they are represented.

Kindergarten students will be able to compose and decompose teen numbers in a variety of ways including 20 frames, number paths, Rekenrek abacus', and hand2mind Numberblocks MathLink cubes.
