Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

A typical day in my classroom is very active and engaging. The students in STEM are busy with many science experiments on a regular basis. The students at my school have become in love with science and ask me regularly when they have lab next. They often make connections to their daily lives.

My school is an inner-city school, in an economically challenged area, and many of the students are facing some tough life circumstances outside of school.

Often my students are academically and behaviorally challenged as well, and yet they smile every day and love their school. This school has a lot of school spirit and pride. Despite all the challenges, these students are extremely well mannered. As soon as the students arrive on campus, the tone of the school helps them prepare for learning and puts a smile on their faces. Our school is small but filled with a lot of love and hope. The students want to succeed and change their lives.

My Project

The items(four laptops) that I am requesting will make a huge difference in the rigor of our STEM science labs. Technology is an important piece in the STEM. We use computers to research topics that we are studying and design ideas. We are studying specific topics such as plants only found in Florida, Florida wildlife, life cycles of certain species, and ways engineers design bridges. Computers will help us research our topics of study and enhance our lessons.

The donations will improve our STEM lab for all the classes that I teach, from K through 4th grade.

My students’ lives will be touched because they will be able to perform deeper, meaningful experiments and make connections to the real world around them
