This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am excited to be starting a technology club! ESports has emerged as one of the fastest-growing industries worldwide Our technology/eSports club stands as a testament to this growing phenomenon, serving as a hub for passionate gamers and aspiring professionals alike.

While eSports may appear to be solely about gaming, it encompasses much more than that.

It fosters teamwork, strategic thinking, and discipline among our members. It provides a platform for young talents to showcase their skills and potentially carve out successful careers in an increasingly digital world.

The club will be three days a week. Day 1 will be coding and Minecraft Education Edition. Day 2 will be math through gaming. Day 3 will be about technology careers.

During Day 2 we will be using the Nintendo Switches to demonstrate mathematical procedures rather then relying on memorization. This will be done by pausing games and talking what mathematical situations are happening. We will also be using the computer program GamerMath to put us into these situations in our games. GamerMath will use Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Brothers to teach: lines/angles, multiplication, time, money, add/subtract, and fractions. By purchasing extra Joy-Con remote controllers, many students can participate at a time.

Students will be chosen on behavior/attendance issues and high academics. By choosing a wide variety of students we will be able to teach teamwork and academics and by choosing attendance issue students we will be able to encourage students to come to school. By being a Title 1-low income school we will be able to give students a chance to compete in the digital age.

However, like any other technology/eSports club, we face numerous challenges in ensuring our sustainability and growth. From securing top-notch equipment to covering travel expenses for competitions, the financial burden can be significant.
