My Students

I am an instructional coach and I work with teachers to make sure all students can be successful here at our middle school. I work with teachers on many things, pedagogy, classroom management, and differentiation name a few. We are a middle school located in an agricultural area of NC, Franklin County. Many of our students are of great need, and we are a title one school. Our teachers work hard and care for their studnets. For many of our babies, this is the only place where they feel, happy, cared for, appreciated, celebrated, supported and loved.

My Project

I am an instructional coach and I work with teachers so that they can become better! A good chunk of what I do is observation. I go into teachers' rooms and watch them teach. While there I work hard to take notes in real-time and ask questions about what I am observing right when I see it so that teachers get quality, timely, purposeful, and effective feedback so we can have rich conversations about how to evolve professional practice. Currently, I have to carry a notebook or my laptop in or take notes by hand. Hand notes take too long to write. The laptop is an issue because I am often standing in a corner trying to take notes. My laptop is not a touchscreen, so this makes it quite difficult to type. I have to hold the computer with one hand and type with the other. By having an ipad mini I can type quickly and be discreet. There are many feedback apps available through the apple store that work with this interface and would be a much better way of organizing my observations than the Google Form system I am currently using.
