Technology is a necessity in our daily lives. Our world is full of technological resources and our students need exposure and practice to become successful participants of today's world.
My students are enthusiastic learners and always strive to do their best.
Unfortunately, many of them come from disadvantaged homes. Many have single parents or foster parents that struggle to provide basic needs for their children and cannot afford technology. Our classroom is often the most stable, positive force in their lives. My class is an inclusion classroom, so several of my students have special needs. This means I make even more of an effort to provide learning in a variety of ways and strategies. The students are all helpful and accepting of each others' differences. Because they are all too familiar with life's difficulties, they are sensitive and compassionate with one another, helping to create an environment that is warm, loving, and safe. Our school strives to meet the needs of these children. The students are strong and resilient! However, every bit of support helps to provide for their education.
My Project
Computers make so many resources available to everyone! With more laptops, more students will have access to the learning and technology that has become so important in today's world. There are countless online resources that provide literacy intervention, keyboard and typing practice, computer skills, mathematical and higher level thinking skills, and even current computer test-taking skills. If students have the opportunity to work independently on laptops, I will be able to meet more needs in small differentiated groups. Students can have access to fun, educational computer programs, creating an actively engaged classroom that multitasks on several different learning activities at once. Not only is this exciting, it also helps children to be effectively prepared for our rapidly changing environment. As they continue their education, they will continue to change and adapt to more advanced technology, in part due to the beneficial support received in elementary school!

My students are intelligent and eager to learn. They deserve to have the same opportunities for learning as any other children that happen to have more advantages. You will be helping our children have access to the world of technology that they wouldn't have otherwise and that is crucial. You can have an impact on their perspective of today's world!
