This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our classroom desperately needs a desktop for group research. Imagine having to crowd around a laptop - only to end up fighting over who gets the glare. With 36 students in seat, a desktop would be more valuable and reliable.
My class is full of energetic thinkers who love to learn.
They have many questions and we participate in many web quests trying to find the answers to our daily ponderings! Unfortunately many students run into roadblocks due to the technology at hand - who knew flash players were so important! To many 2nd language learners - a picture or video enables them to delve into content first!
My Project
One of my stations during reading allows students to listen to audio books. Unfortunately I only have one CD player and a portable one will give the student the freedom to choose where they dive into their next book.
An actual desktop computer will bring a reliable source of technology into a classroom that 36 students and 1 teacher - share just 3 laptops.
Hopefully you realize the importance of all children having reliable technology within reach.
My students and I will be eternally grateful! This will help close the achievement gap many students fear they will never bridge.
