Technology to Enhance Learning

My students need the Chromebooks and Kindles to enhance their reading and math skills. There are so many helpful programs online that they do not have access to due to not having technology in the classroom.

My Students

I work in a title 1 school in an urban school district in West Haven, CT. I work in a special education resource room and have students that range from 1st grade to 4th grade with all different types of disabilities ranging from learning disabilities to autism. It can be difficult at times to differentiate materials and the lack of technology in the classroom can put students at a disadvantage.

We have a responsibility to ensure that every individual has the opportunity to receive a high-quality education, from prekindergarten to elementary and secondary, to special education, to technical and higher education and beyond.

Having this technology in my classroom can help my students improve their math and reading skills and have the advantage of all the resources that technology has to offer students.

My Project

The Chromebooks will allow the students to go on different websites such as Lexia and iXl to allow the students to take their reading and math skills to the next level. They can be used in conjunction with the district curriculum and resources to enhance their skills so they can flourish in the regular education classroom.

The students are in the regular education classroom a majority of the time and I would like to use all the advantages in my class that I can get to help them reach their goals and help them become even better students in their classes that they already are.
