I am blessed to have a job that I love! When I leave at the end of the day, I am excited to get back the next morning, It wasn't until I started teaching that I truly began to understand the meaning of, "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life."
My students are amazing.
Every child starts the year at different ability levels. Some students are very low and I make sure that they know that this room is a safe space where they are able to make mistakes, and feel comfortable to try again. We spend most days working in small groups. They are doing an excellent job of learning how to work together, with respect for differing views and opinions. From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential. We celebrate growth and achievement. It doesn't matter where they are when they come to me, only how far they get during the year.
My Project
For the students of today, technology is a part of their daily lives. It will be a part of any job they get. We need to help students understand how to use technology as a tool for making good decisions. These requested two Chromebooks will enable my students to gain a deeper understanding of the concepts we are working on. They will be especially helpful in allowing me to individualize instruction based on each students individual needs.
Independent research must become a part of their daily lives.
I am always amazed that students believe if it is on the internet it must be true. I need the Chromebooks so that these students can learn to evaluate the source of the information they gather for research projects. They need to understand how to evaluate the information they find online.
Finally, there are wonderful programs that allow teachers to make sure that each child is receiving practice at their individual levels. this is especially true in math. Math practice online is an outstanding way to help accelerate student leaning. Math programs are able to give students immediate feedback which allows them to correct misconceptions and get help immediately.
