Technology + Special Ed = Love and Learning

My students need a projector to help display media in a more accessible manner.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In this day and age, a lot of children are used to learning things with the help of technology. My classroom is lacking in the area of technology, but you can help bring it up to date!

I work in a very impoverished area of New York, and the students in my school come from the projects that surround the school.

Our school population is "high poverty," which means that a high percentage of students get free or reduced-price lunches. My classroom is full of curious, 4th grade, special education students. They love to learn, but with the different needs that they all have, it would be a great tool for both my students and I to have more technology at our fingertips.

My Project

If my students could see images on a big screen in front of them, they could interact with the curriculum much better. They would be able to share projects that they create on their own with the classroom and do research together as a class. A projector would be an invaluable tool to add to our classroom. I have a personal laptop that I bring to the classroom, and I could hook it up, teach students how to word process, research on the Internet, make Powerpoints, etc - the possibilities are endless! I have requested a portable projector for our classroom to open my students up to the wonderful world of technology.

I want my students to be able to learn just as much as every other 4th grader, and by adding in the important element of technology, I am getting my students that much closer to this goal.

Please help introduce this fabulous piece of equipment to my classroom!
