I teach gifted students in grades 4, 5, and 6. My school has a high percentage of students who receive free and reduced lunches. Our community lost two of its biggest companies over the past two years and money is very limited.
My classroom has very outdated computers which do not always work. As a gifted teacher, I would like for my students to have more updated technology to use. My students get so excited when they get to use computers and they really want to be able to do more than just type a paper. The computers that I have now are unable to read many of the software programs that I have purchased such as learning to type, learning to speak Spanish, and learning to play Chess.
A laptop computer would be an asset to my classroom. These students could not only use the new programs, but they could also produce powerpoints, and create newsletters and brochures. The sky is the limit for my talented and gifted students who need to be challenged in ways not offered in the regular classroom.
You will provide challenging opportunities for my gifted students if you choose to donate to this project. My students will become more computer savvy, and will be excited to learn and produce using this laptop computer.
