As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite these many challenges, my students come to school with a smile on their face and an eagerness to learn.
My students have amazing, creative, and clever thoughts and ideas.
They are eager and motivated, thriving on engaging lessons, and positive attention.
My students are culturally diverse, and many are English language learners. Many students are being raised in single parent households, and all receive a free breakfast and lunch based on their socioeconomic status. My goal is that regardless of a student's home life, when they enter my classroom, they enter into a safe and caring community where they are motivated, excited, and encouraged to learn and be their best.
My Project
My students would greatly benefit from being able to create projects that highlight their knowledge on many different subjects. These iPads will give my students that chance. Using the iPads they can plan, create, edit, and publish videos that will showcase the knowledge they have acquired throughout a unit of study. These iPads would also be used everyday in our learning centers to assist in math, reading, and writing practice. During the past few years I have wanted to give my students an extension project for them to really show off their knowledge on a subject. By using the different apps on the iPads, students will finally have that opportunity.
