The wobble stools were the biggest surprise. Students were so excited to use them, and they were amazed that they could move and still stay focused during lessons. The Play-Doh and alphabet stamps also became instant favorites. Students began spelling sight words, making letters, and practicing sounds without even realizing how much they were learning. It made our center time feel new and fun again.\r\n\r\nWe now use the wobble stools every day during reading and writing time, and they have been especially helpful for my extra active students and my students with special needs who benefit from flexible seating. They help these students stay engaged, comfortable, and ready to learn. Our new seat sack pocket chairs have made a big difference too—they keep our desks clean, our books organized, and help students stay prepared for each lesson. The Play-Doh, ink pads, and stamps have become a key part of our literacy centers. These tools give my students hands-on ways to practice sounds and words, especially for those who need extra support.\r\n\r\nBecause of your kindness, our classroom is a more joyful and productive place. My students are excited to learn, proud of their work, and eager to use these materials each day. Our next step is to continue building their reading and writing stamina using these tools. Your contributions have made a meaningful and lasting impact on our learning environment, and we could not be more thankful for your kindness and support. Every item you provided plays an important role in helping us create a safe, welcoming, and engaging space for our young learners.\r\n\r\nThe supplies you donated have been essential in keeping our classroom clean, organized, and germ-free. In early childhood classrooms, and especially in special education settings, cleanliness is not only about maintaining order—it directly impacts our students' health and well-being. When our students are healthy, their attendance improves. Consistent attendance means they are able to fully participate in the daily routines, hands-on learning, and social interactions that are so important for their development. Each day of learning matters, and your generosity has helped ensure that our students don't miss out on these valuable opportunities.\r\n\r\nMaintaining a healthy environment also benefits our classroom staff. When illnesses spread less frequently, our teachers and support staff are able to remain consistent in the classroom. For our students with disabilities, this consistency is especially crucial. Many of our students rely heavily on structure and predictability to feel secure and to be able to learn effectively. Having familiar adults in the classroom each day provides that sense of stability. Thanks to your support, we are able to maintain routines and relationships that our students depend on.\r\n\r\nThe impact of your generosity extends beyond just cleanliness and health. By helping us provide a safe and well-maintained classroom, you are also giving our students the best possible chance to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Our students arrive each morning ready to explore, play, and discover new things. They are curious, full of energy, and eager to engage with their peers and teachers. When the environment is clean and inviting, it sets the stage for joyful and meaningful learning experiences.","fullyFundedDate":1715170433073,"projectUrl":"project/germ-busters-creating-a-healthy-and-cle/8260911/","projectTitle":"Germ Busters: Creating a Healthy and Clean Preschool Environment","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Garcia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8889627"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_31327","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":540,"numTeachers":26,"percentFrplEligible":89,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":6,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":81,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"20.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":72.0,"schoolId":31327,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Chollas - Mead Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Chollas - Mead Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/san-diego-unified-school-district/chollas-mead-elementary-school/31327"}
