Teaching in a low income/under-funded district is difficult. Being a student in a low income/under-funded district is even more difficult. I teach Special Education across multiple grade levels in Chicago Public Schools. The students in my room are ambitious, charismatic, and kindhearted. They strive to not only make a difference in our school, but in our community as well.
These students deserve the same opportunities that their same-aged peers have in different districts.
Teaching in a fully inclusive classroom means that there are students with a wide variety of needs. Each student requires different supports/materials to be successful. For a large number of our students, technology can provide the supports they need to complete grade level work.
Please consider donating to help these hardworking students obtain the education they deserve.
My Project
In a dynamic classroom, technology is necessary to make the curriculum accessible to all students. When students have access to technology, they are able to see material represented in a variety of ways. Educational videos and interactive websites can have an enormous impact on how students learn and can change their perception of learning.
My students need a computer to make the curriculum accessible to all students.
Unfortunately, my students do not have access to the technology they need because of their zip codes. My goal is to provide my students with the technology they need to be successful. If this project were to be fully funded, this computer would aid in all subjects throughout the day. This computer would be used to increase math skills, improve reading comprehension, and so much more. These students are our future, and they deserve the best education possible!
