Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This is my first year to teach, so I do not have a lot of extra supplies. My district has these amazing on line programs we can do as class, but I do not have enough head phones for them to be able to work at the individual pace.
My 4th grade classes are struggling.
They are extremely guarded and you must win the trust of them to get the respect that is automatic in most schools. One of the things I admire about them is that they do not steal things and enjoy learning. I work in a school that is in low economic area, so we do not have a lot of extra funds or supplies. These babies do enjoy learning and I have made a personal vow to do everything I can do help them do this and have some fun while doing it. At the end of the day being a kid should be fun and I know we can make learning fun.
My Project
I am fortunate enough to have two computers in my classroom, but I need headphones for them. The students would be able to log in to several different student websites/programs that we have to work on areas they may need some extra help in. We would use the set of 20 headphones, so I could check out the laptop computers and everyone could do work individually while learning how to work technology. I would use these computer programs mainly for science.
http://www.brainpop.com/ and http://stemscopes.com/ are the programs we use.
If you donate to this project you will not only help my class out, but other classes as well.
Today and tomorrow is a world of technology and unfortunately these children do not have computers at home and being able to utilize them at school will be a bonus. Technology will help prepare them for the future. These programs will allow us as a class to be able to add another way of learning science and helping to keep the students engaged.
