My students need the LeapFrog tablets and iPad Mini to help keep them engaged in learning to read, write, and practice math during our Daily 5 reading and math centers.
Every morning we gather on the carpet to have a morning meeting. We sing, dance, and share important life and class events. Throughout the day, the students are engaged in reading, writing, math and science activities. At the end of the year, I want for them to be life-long learners!
My 23 students come from a wide-range of lifestyles.
They are a sweet, caring, loving group, and are ready to learn each and every day! Over 50% of my students qualify for free/reduced lunch. Majority of them come to school and go home from school by bus. My school has over 800 students that are all different and a like in many ways.
My Project
Every day, I do daily 5 centers for reading. My students will use the IPad with me or with my aide during guided reading to build words, practice letters/sounds, and practice good reading skills. The students will use the leap frog pads as a listening center to read or to play educational games to practice word building and/or writing skills. This year, I would like to incorporate math centers on a more regular basis, and the games on the LeapPads would truly help to provide a fun station for 2-4 students to work on.
We only have two computers in my classroom, so the extra technology with the IPad and Leap Frogs will help all the children have time with technology.
This donation will mean the world to my students. They will love being able to use these items in the classroom, and it will help keep them engaged in learning in a fun filled way!
