Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are very active and definitely born in the digital age. Our curiosity is amazing. The more we learn the more we want to learn.
Our class is brand new to our campus and is diverse set of students with special needs.
We have many challenges to overcome and work very hard every day to succeed. Our sense of wonder is strong. Our ability is only impeded by expectation and thankfully our teacher has high expectations for us and huge amounts of support.
We have the ability to do grade level work and are working on getting the classroom furnished with high quality materials.
My Project
Our students are in a time where technology rules. Our classroom has few ways for our students to explore the technological world. We are limited to worksheets and textbook currently.
We are a brand new program helping students with behavior issues learn to succeed in society.
Technology will enable them to see a bigger perspective of life in the world. I specifically use computer based programs for learning such as IReady, Education.com, Starfall, and Reflex Math. I also wish to do project based learning where research would be imperative.
We currently ask other teachers to borrow their technology and do not always have access. It would be an amazing gift to be able to keep a set of laptops in our room for our students to use as needed daily instead of when they are not being used by another class. These laptops will be rotated between our students during lessons to expand their knowledge base and expose them to technology in the classroom.
