My Students

I teach an enthusiastic group of 44 fifth graders in two homerooms. I teach math and science, and this group is very excited about science. They are from varied income levels and home environments, and several are new to our country.

They are active, curious, and love hands on activities.

Of those 44 students, six are English Language Learners and 10 receive special education support. They love to work on collaborative assignments and explore new ideas.

My Project

AR technology is an amazing resource that allows students to visualize and see the fine details which they are learning about. They can zoom in on planets or become the bee pollinating flowers to see the exact process and become part of the science of the world around them.

The Kindle Fire Tablets will allow my students to access apps which allow them to access alternative technology in the classroom. They have shown such engagement when using these programs with them but I currently only have one device to share amongst 22 students. Through this project, the students will be able to have small groups in which they study using augmentative reality in technology together. It is absolutely the most amazing thing and the kids absolutely love it!
