This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a teacher in a low-income, high-poverty school where my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
I teach in a low socioeconomic area in the heart of Birmingham, Alabama.
My students come to me daily ready to learn and eager to please their teacher by doing their best work. I provide many resources myself for my classroom due to low funding.
About 95% of my students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. My students would greatly benefit from these additional resources. My students are active, creative, and deserve nothing but the best!
My Project
This project will be used in conjunction with the computer for students to deepen their computer science skills in the classroom. There are many resources students can utilize but not enough means for them to listen to the lessons being taught without disrupting other students. These AirPods will be helpful to have the tools to access the many resources there are available for them on the computer. There are many coding games used to learn in a fun and interactive way. Headphones will allow students to learn how to code without disrupting other students.
Students in my district have limited access to technology.
These two airpods will make a difference in their learning by allowing them the opportunity to have access to technology that will be beneficial to them in centers and in the future. An example of that technology that will be accessed by the use of the headphones is being able to hear while learning coding programs such as Kodable and Root Coding.
