This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are the Chiefs! My Students are inquisitive but many lack the resources to stay connected to the world. We are a 6th-8th grade school, with approximately 550 students in a low-income community. I teach 8th grade social studies and have approximately 90 students.
My students are very diverse.
My 8th graders are eager to learn and discover their world! They could get so much from our state curriculum
If they were given the opportunity to have technology included in their daily lessons.
My students are bright and resilient. My students have a passion to learn, but I know they could do so much more with better resources.
My Project
My students can use these tablets in so many ways. We could take virtual field trips and engage with the content through more than just text. Having technology opens up my classroom to so many options. My students can use these tablets for research and I can use tools like Kahoot.it to check for understanding. You will be giving a middle school child an experience that they wouldn't have had before. My students will get to learn how to be fluent in technology, and I will be able to design more engaging and rigorous lessons.
