The students in my classroom are enrolled in one of the four classes offered to students in grades 10 - 12 as part of our district's Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) curriculum.
Nearly 1/3 of the approximately 1,680 students in our dynamic, suburban school community take one of the five FCS offered yearly to students in grades 9 - 12!
Students choose these electives based on personal interest and most have a desire to take courses that encompass a comprehensive body of skills which will help them make informed decisions about their well-being, relationships, and resources to achieve optimal quality of life.
My Project
Technology is consistently evolving and our students need to be prepared for college and career life. Providing donations for this Chromebook, would allow students in the Family and Consumer Sciences classroom access to the latest educational technology to complete daily course work as well as innovative projects related to personal finance, family dynamics and foods and nutrition. Including this technology is the classroom will help bolster the high effect size strategies utilized in daily lessons. Students' learning will be enhanced through interactive video, data driven instruction using Kahoot, GimKit, etc. and provide opportunities for immediate feedback and reflection. Technology will never not be present in the classroom. With this donation, my students would greatly benefit from utilizing the technology to help prepare them for life outside the walls of our high school.
