Help me give my students the ability to learn to research educational topics and to have access to different educational websites that will enhance their learning and exposure to the world through the technology of Chromebooks.
The students in my classroom are part of a low-income/high-poverty school district. They are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, they need learning to be engaging so they are better able to focus and take charge of their own learning.
It is very important for students to learn how to use the tools that are currently necessary for them to have success in learning and in life.
Technology has opened up so many ways for students to explore the world in a way that they would not necessarily have been able to in their lives. Chromebooks open up ways for students to learn more about technology, teamwork, and problem-solving in ways that they never imagined possible.
My Project
My students need Chromebooks to be able to learn to research educational topics and to have access to different educational websites that will enhance their learning and exposure to the world.
My students are part of a 3rd grade class of 23 students with great interest in learning about technology as well as the world around them.
The school has a small computer lab that is shared between 500 students. Trying to give students the opportunity to learn computer skills and have access to the world of technology is difficult with a one time a week, 30 minute session.
There is so much more learning that can happen for students when they have access to technology. There are resources to augment classroom instruction that are so beneficial to students. We live in a world of technology and I want to help my students be part of this world so that when they grow up, they are able to successfully function in this world.
