Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My primary goal is for each one of my students to be successful with their education. It is my responsibility as well as my passion to do everything in my power to provide as many learning opportunities for my students to work up to their potential and toward becoming college and career ready.
I am currently a 1st grade teacher with many years of experience.
I work at at title I school. I work with 24 English Learners who are enthusiastic and always ready to learn.
I like to stay up-to-date and current on the newest and best practices in teaching. I attend conferences, workshops, and teacher trainings. I enjoy collaborating and planning with my colleagues. I make sure that my classroom is an effective learning environment.
My Project
I am requesting an iPad Air 2 and the protective cover to use in my classroom. The iPad will be used to access many of the professional development courses available from the Apple Store. I will be able to view Common Core Shifts, Text Complexity, and Close Reading training course by Timothy Shanahan. This training will help me understand the new changes in instructional techniques brought about by Common Core. The iPad will allow me to watch and learn from instructional videos from the Teaching Channel, Discovery United Streaming, and YouTube.
These professional development courses will help me to be a more informed and effective teacher.
The iPad will give me easy access to Google Drive to collect student data. This in turn will allow me to plan differentiated instruction for my students.
It will also help me grow in the area of technology and will teach me skills on how to use educational applications in lessons.
Providing the funding for this iPad and the protective cover will allow me to continue to grow as a professional.
It will also help my students by providing them with updated and effective techniques and strategies to be successful.
