My school is a Title I school with a large ESL population (English as a Second Language). Many students are focusing on learning a new language as well as trying to keep up with academics. It is our belief that all students can learn at high levels and be successful when nurtured in a caring environment.
My students come to school eager to learn and ready to work hard.
They enjoy positive praise and responsibilities within the classroom. We embrace various types of learning situations. We incorporate hands-on science experiments, guided group discussions, as well as individual work time. We focus on building a classroom community and we become a family that supports each other in every aspect of learning.
It becomes our mission to spread kindness through learning every day. It is amazing to see the growth in them both socially and academically. They are all creative individuals that I enjoy inspiring and encouraging to do their best in any situation on a daily basis.
My Project
My students need these Kindles to provide them with additional ways to practice the reading and math skills they are working on. I have been at my current school for a year. The school I was at before had 30 iPads per grade. We were able to use these to help students ENHANCE their learning.
Our class all made significant gains in Reading and Math on our last Map Test.
From the last project I had funded I was able to get 4 Fire Tablets. My students have been able to use these tablets during our intervention time and work on standards they need to practice. This helps me target students who are far behind and students who are ready to move on to higher standards. I am asking for 5 more so I can have more tablets, which I believe will continue to help my students grow!
