This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach special education grades 6-8. My students have learning disabilities. They are excited to learn however, they understand their own personal needs. I have students who cannot decode or write yet. However, they are always excited to be in school.
I teach in a low income community where my students do not have access to technology.
Their background include students from immigrant families, African Americans. Parents work various shift to provide for their families. Our neighborhood is surrounded by gangs, poverty and transient families. Our school is very limited in resources and I would love to expose them to many other things.
My Project
My students need the 21 century skills. This includes learning how to type, use the internet for research. When they work on their writing they need to be able to publish their work on a computer. Therefore, they will increase their effort.
My Special Education students need learn 21st century skills and practice their reading at their own reading level.
Students have different needs and having a chromebook allows me to set up accounts where they can read at their own level. Special education students need a lot of differentiation and this will allow me to meet all my students needs in writing and in reading.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
