Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I remember way back in the stone ages when I was in school, the teacher gave us a book and said "Read", and we did. Today's students are more likely to learn visually and with electronics then I was.

My students come from very low economic backgrounds.

They try very hard in the classroom to learn but many need extra help with reading and math. Our school has been on the failing end of standardized test scores for years. Maybe they need more visual learning then I did as a kid. They are wonderful and ambitious kids, and really deserve to have materials to help them learn.

My Project

I am requesting 2 leap pads for my room. These will be used for reading and math time. I am also requesting personal earplug style earphones to insure cleanliness in the class. We have many leap pad books and cartridges in our library. Unfortunately the players for these cartridges are all broken. If our class had a couple players we would have dozens of resources to use.

Please help my students become better readers with leap pads.

They seem to love any electronic gadgets and will use these during our independent reading times in the classroom. Thanks for considering my project.
