Technology for Mathematicians!

My students need iPads in the classroom to allow them to use technology to further their math learning! They would benefit from iPads by being able to use many math apps!

My Students

My students walk out of our school every day not knowing what the evening will hold for them. I teach at a Title I school in East Tennessee where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. The majority of my students do not have access to technology at home. While they are in my classroom, I try to create an environment that allows them (and encourages them) to forget the rest of the world and just focus on math!

Even though so many of my students are sent home every weekend with a backpack of food from the food pantry, they do not let it break their spirit.

They know an education is something no one can take away from them and they are excited to learn every day!

My Project

Having the set of iPads will allow for different structures of learning in my classroom and expose my students to technology they do not have at home. One way they will be used is as a collaborative tool. Using websites and apps such as Quizlet, students can work together on an assignment created by the leacher.

My students may not have access to this type of technology at home but will be expected to be familiar with it in the real world.

My students will benefit from this exposure immensely. This could be the first time some of my students have used technology like this. How amazing is that? There lives will be enhanced tremendously.
