My Students

I teach in an Integrated Kindergarten classroom with 23 sweet, bright and hilarious students. Each child is learning to meet their own individual goals. While some children may have come to our classroom reading, others are learning how to take turns or identify letters. Each child is learning to meet their own individual goals and have respect for where others are on their journey. We promote independence and kindness and strive for a classroom culture where children help each other.

Choice is a big part of our classroom and we feel strongly that children who have control over how they learn are more invested in what they are learning.

Our students love to engage in play based learning, sensory and movement activities. We also love to hear stories, create books and think and work like scientists and mathematicians.

My Project

Students will have access to age appropriate technology that is easy for them to use. Many of our students have fine motor issues and cannot manipulate a mouse on a desktop or laptop computer. Using tablets will allow the children to be more independent while working with technology.

The tablets will allow the children access to applications that will support both academic and social emotional development such as Handwriting Without Tears and Social Adventures.

In addition to using these types of applications, these tablets can help us to extend our activities by allowing us to look up information and do research about high interest topics. The cases will keep our tablets safe when being handled and the charging station will be a good home to store them all when charging.
