Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are all very eager and enthusiastic about learning. They come to school ready and are engaged in the lessons that are presented in class. Every year, I want my students to be able to learn as much and have as much access to learning as possible, technology will help make this happen!
My students are all bilingual and in 5th grade (majority about 10-11 years old).
The school is a bilingual public school, which can be very hard to come by. We recite the school pledge in both languages throughout the week and pride ourselves in being to be both bilingual AND bi-literate.
My Project
These iPads would be used everyday in class! In reading, students will be able to access online texts, use them as a station, and practice different activities to enhance their comprehension, fluency, and vocabulary in Spanish. In math, they would also be used a center where students could use virtual manipulatives to help them understand math concepts, watch tutorial videos on a particularly topic, play fun math games that both entertain and challenge them to continue learning and develop their skills.
These iPads will help improve my classroom in different ways.
A few of my students do not have access to computers or other technology at home, so this would be one of their only opportunities to practice using technology. Others who are struggling in math will be able to become more independent and self sufficient in using different resources online. Students who look for more challenges will also be able to use the iPad as a resource.
