It was a fun, hands-on sensory tool that gave them something engaging to manipulate while helping them focus and regulate their bodies.\r\nIt was so meaningful to be able to give our students a refresh of the tools in our space and, most importantly, offer them more choices. Students are now using these hands-on resources during small-group reading instruction to support their letter sound learning. \r\n\r\nWe are using the folders to make individualized ABC books. The ABC tubs have already provided kids with toys to practice letter sound correspondence and to reinforce identifying the beginning sounds in words. I wrote letters on the floor spot markers and have had kids jump to the sounds I dictate. \r\n\r\nIt can be hard to get back into the routine of school after summer. Summer learning loss—often called the \"summer slide\"—is the loss of academic skills and knowledge that occurs when kids take a break from school during summer vacation.
