These materials have brought so much excitement and possibility to our Advanced Crafting class. Students are learning to use tools appropriately, follow multi-step directions, plan their designs, make adjustments when something doesn't work as expected, and (most importantly) be patient with the creative process. I especially love seeing the pride on their faces when they finish something and immediately want to show it to their friends and families.\r\n\r\nWe have many more projects planned throughout the year, so these materials will continue to be used again and again. We have been using the alphabet charts to connect letters and sounds with visuals and to notice similarities and differences between English and Spanish. One of their favorite activities has been using our new letter beanbags. Students toss letter beanbags into a bucket, identify the letter and sound, and then combine the letters to blend and read CVC words. Adding movement has made practicing these important skills feel like a game, and the students love it!\r\n\r\nNext, we will continue using these materials as we strengthen letter-sound knowledge and begin reading more of our new decodable books. Having resources in both English and Spanish allows students to make connections across languages while building confidence as beginning readers. The snacks purchased through this project have also been a huge hit!
