I teach in a rural community that is a 20 minute drive from the nearest market, gas station or retail store. We have a student population in our K-8 school of 27 students. Our students treat each other as siblings and regularly play together at recess and interact in school-wide events such as our winter play.
These students come to school ready to participate and put their best foot forward.
I am always amazed at the diverse experiences each of my children bring to the classroom. The rural lifestyle they lead contributes to the many colorful personas that make my school great!
My Project
We were very successful in our first attempt to get technology to our school. Now we are trying to get our 3-8 grade students a 1:1 classroom scenario with Chromebooks. We currently have fewer computers than students in the classroom. This creates problems for planning in the classroom and a lack freedom for my students to learn. This project will allow my entire class to utilize Chromebooks simultaneously. Making my time as a teacher more efficient and the students time in the classroom more cohesive.
ipads will allow my students to function with different operation platforms and learn to move data from one device to another in a collaborative way.
By purchasing 2 new ipads, my students can take pictures and videos, utilize green screen applications and be mobile on campus while learning. I have used these devices in that format at other school sites and feel strongly that our students should have those opportunities on the hill.
