My students need access to chromebooks on a regular basis. In my math class I provide endless opportunities for advancement in their learning techniques and strategies.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work with a group of determined and intellectually gifted scholars. My students all come from low-income communities and always manage to come into class everyday eager and ready for the next adventure. I strive to create a safe, warm and welcoming environment for all my students.
My students know that mistakes are opportunities for learning and are not punitive.
I encourage my students to push their thinking through critical analysis and high-order thinking questions and discussions. I want to supply my students with the tools they need to be successful, not only in my classroom but in life in general.
My Project
I had the opportunity to attend several Professional Development workshops over the summer and was privileged to obtain so many fundamental skills. However, I work in a title one school and my students do no have access to Computers in the classroom. I feel this disadvantage will greatly hinder the opportunity to expand all the skills and techniques I’ve acquired over the summer. I plan to aim for 8 - HP 11.6' Chromebook - Intel Celeron - 4GB Memory - 16GB eMMC Flash Memory - Black for the classroom
With these computers, my students will be able to apply mathematical skills in engaging and stimulating ways.
I plan to have my students log onto an interactive classroom on KhanAcademy.org where they can better engage in the classroom. I plan to allow time for exploration and have my students explore various online tools.
They will utilize the computers for group work as well as data analysis from lessons I have acquired from @bootcampworld.org workshops which align with the units I teach. Also, we cover a unit on data and statistics and I plan to show my students how to apply computer science when
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
