My students need iPads for a technology boost in their education. They can do research projects, reading and math stations, turn their writing into movies, and so much more!
My students come from a variety of different backgrounds; some examples of this are low-income families, English as a Second Language and a variety of different education levels. They are amazing students who are so eager to learn but there are always challenges when it comes to their learning. For most of my students I am their first official teacher in public education, they did not attend any form of pre-school. They are pushed every day to reach their highest potential and they are trying their hardest to meet those standards.
My students are always looking for ways to enhance their own learning and challenging themselves to make things harder.
They love to work with their hands and listen to stories! They really are an amazing group! Some of their backgrounds and home lives do not allow them to have all of the resources that they need to be successful, so at school we try our hardest to get them everything they need.
My Project
Saying that my students LOVE technology is an understatement.; they thrive with technology. ! iPads for kindergarteners is ideal because it is hands on and uses their fingers or hands instead of having to type on a keyboard. Using iPads allows them to move about the room and find a comfy spot that would work best for their individual learning style.
They would be able to use the iPads for research projects, making their writing come to life through iMovie, literacy and math stations and so much more; these are just a few ways that iPads will be used in the classroom.
For literacy and math stations they would be able to choose from a variety of different apps that are at their specific level of learning, they would do this every single day! They are also able to use them to enhance what they already know, by building words or building sentences.
With their writing it is so important for them to feel proud and making their writing into a movie is a great way of showing them that they are REAL writers. We talk about how their books could be a movie someday so it would be amazing for them to make this a reality. These are just a few ways that my students would benefit from having technology in the classroom.
