My Students

My students are eager, self-driven kids who give it their all, every day.

Nearly 80% of my students come from low-income, newcomer families.

Our students live in small one-room apartments where having their own library at home is not possible. Books are hard to access, and we want to make them easily accessible for them. They need a chance to read often so that they can achieve beyond what their parents work so hard for. Our students are their families' hopes and dreams. We do not receive funding for a literacy program nor for books, but our students are in need of literacy intervention to succeed in school.

My Project

Our literacy intervention program is ready for an Apple Pencil to support instruction. As we teach literacy through an intensive reading program, the iPad Apple Pen will be used as an important communication tool in our key component: the writing!

Students will be able to show their thinking regularly and easily, especially when they are using the Apple Pencil to record different thoughts.

They will use the Apple Pencil to enhance their writing and animate or design drawings to accompany their self created stories.

They will be able to write with ease, using the Apple Pencil, and explain their thinking. The iPad gets projected onto a whiteboard. Student work can be displayed instantly. It will deepen our class discussions. Therefore, students will be able to share no matter where they're at in the room and grab everyone's attention with this technology in use!
