My Students

My students come from various socioeconomic backgrounds which affects internal motivation at times; however, our classroom is full of students who want to learn and succeed!

We look forward to each morning and working together on the challenges of the day.

My classroom is comprised of about 25 students and the 5th grade class at large is about 125. We would be considered a medium sized elementary school with total enrollment being around 800 students from pre-kindergarten to 5th grade. While there is a transient population, I have found there are many students who start in kindergarten and stay until they move on to middle school.

My Project

Recently our school-district has implemented a soft roll-out of an internet based learning platform that allows students to work on assignments, review questions, take practice tests, participate in online discussions with their peers and more in the classroom and at home. Unfortunately, we do not currently have enough laptops or devices for students to have one-on-one technology daily at their fingertips.

Adding Kindles to my classroom, will open up a few more laptops for students in another class and give my students access to technology every day during center rotations.

The ability to add this rotation into my classroom will increase engagement in the curriculum and success for the students.
