This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students experience a fast paced classroom environment. The program requires them to change classrooms and I need to be well informed and prepared with full knowledge of all the new common core standards.

I am in my 18th year of teaching.

For most of my career, I was a primary teacher. I enjoyed it immensely. I dealt with mostly ELD learners. I transferred a couple of years ago and ended up teaching in upper grades. I am now one of the instructors in our math and science magnet. This has been our first full year of Common Core implementation and the more exposure I get to the standards the better. I am enjoying the DOK approach and am getting more from my language arts instruction. I hope to improve in my methods with further exposure.

My Project

The iPad I am requesting will allow me to have a reliable tool to track my students' progress and tracking and applying the common core standards. I also plan on using it to view common core language arts and math demo lessons in expanding my teaching style and for my personal professional development. I will be using specific sites such as CommonCore.com, TeachingChannel.com, Lausd.learningzone.com and Scholastic.com to view podcasts, videos, online streaming lessons and to read and deepen my understanding with Common Core.

This will enable me to be better prepared to give informative and real instruction to my students.

Your donation to this project will help increase my knowledge of technology in conjunction with the new standards. It will also allow for fast and accurate data which can be displayed and analyzed accordingly. In addition, I can plan lessons that I've learned from viewing professional development sites on Common Core, Scholastic.com and the Teaching Channel.
