Help me give my students a first hand experience with new updated technology. Many teachers, myself included, struggle to bring lessons alive as most of our schools tech is outdated.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Most of my students lack resources, experiences, and exposure. Of the 21, 5 perform below grade level in reading, 4 are above grade level, and the remaining students are at grade level for reading. A few of my students are coming from rough home situations, and one student is living in a shelter. As a woman of color teaching mostly students of color, I try to expose them to things that the world outside of the school neighborhood (which is their neighborhood) has to offer; college, grad school, travel, etc. My students are mostly sweet, but sometimes it’s hard competing with their home lives.
My Project
In today’s classroom you compete with flashy video games, viral videos, and the latest dance craze. Lessons need to be live and in color to catch the eye of the children. Working technology plays a huge roll in that.
There’s nothing worse than planning a great lesson, and then having your tech fail you.
Technology adds another layer to your lesson. Not all children are auditory learners. Some are visual, and some are kinesthetic learners. With technology you can add vivid visuals, or the movement piece that so many of our children need.
I desire for all of my students to feel successful. Technology helps me do that.
