The tablets will give my students necessary real world skills such as navigating the web. Although we are listed as a STEM school, all of our equipment is outdated. The tablets allow for exploration as well as a learning tool during literacy blocks and center time. They will also be exposed to a world outside of their present circumstances. The “toys” will enhance their curiosity. Children learn best through play. Their creativity is released when they are allowed to play. There is such a push for a academics. While that is definitely necessary; children need time to just be. Outdoor play and playing with toys allow for that. Play helps with social emotional learning. Children learn turn taking and problem solving through play.
