Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work in a district that has a high percentage of low social economic students. Many students in my classroom come in saying they have difficulty completing practice assignments at home because of the lack of supplies and resources. I have many different students with various learning needs. They come to me struggling with multiplication and division facts, fractions, and comprehending word problems.
My students are always eager to learn and they want to build their math skills on a daily basis.
My Project
The use of manipulatives will help the students become more actively engaged in the classroom. The manipulatives allow me to see exactly what they are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work. We have students who need various teaching styles. Some are kinesthetic learners. Therefore, they would require things that they can manipulate. I can also implement technology to use math games and other programs that are available to help my students.
