Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are goofy, silly, funny, emotional, frustrated, energetic, impulsive and are craving someone to care about them. My classroom consists of 10 students with special needs and 15 students of mixed English Language Learners and general education students. This makes it difficult to meet the various needs of the students in my classroom. I do my very best to make each child feel special and like they CAN do it. My school has a very large population of low socioeconomic students, as well as children in shelters. It would be great to give these students a chance and an opportunity to meet their optimal potential.
My Project
Many of my students have severe special needs and require all things taught to be displayed visually, through large, colorful ways. A Smart TV, with protection plan, would bring learning to life for my students in ways that would excite them and motivate them. It would guide my students through tasks, that normally would have been too difficult to even want to try, by tending to their individual needs and presenting the task in much easier ways. My students will be empowered through art, by taking virtual tours of museums and giving them true life experiences. Having this technology in our room will create endless possibilities, and the best part will be seeing my students get excited over their learning!
Donations to my project will be empowering students through art, as well as helping foster a student-driven classroom.
It will give students confidence by allowing them to feel ownership over their learning and their environment. My students come from broken homes and are often in and out of shelters. Having a real space with the tools needed to guide them in their learning and being able to call that space their own, to depend on, would give them the drive to want to go on in life and succeed.
