My Project

I am moving to a new school in the fall and have been informed that I will not have the same equipment that my current students have to help them be successful in a technology influenced society. I will be teaching 3rd grade at Bates Elementary, which is a Title 1 school. 3rd graders take the state test for the first time in their educational career and technology is vital for their learning. We will need proper equipment to help make the school days run smoothly.

Imagine a room filled with 25 colleagues who are all on a device that is playing a video with no access to headphones, or needing to charge your device at the same time as half of these colleagues and not having the ability to do so.

This is the reality of my students who will not have headphones or a charging station to store and charge Chromebooks efficiently.

Having a charging doc will make it easier to charge and safely store devices in bulk.

Headphones will help my students focused while completing assignments on their Chromebooks. Some ESL students will need to be able to hear the directions read from the Chromebook in their native language. Some ECE students will have a reader as an accommodation and will need to be able to hear the directions being read from the Chromebook. Several of my students prefer to use a mouse instead of the little mouse pad on the Chromebook for daily tasks and certain websites and apps are easier to use with a mouse.

Headphones, mice, and a charging dock are a vital part of my daily routine in my classroom. Please consider donating to make my first year at a new school an easy transition and successful for my students.
