Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students of Classen SAS Orchestra are hard-working and determined. They set high goals and don't stop until they reach them. They love orchestra and enjoy a creative outlet during a rigorous academic schedule.

Classen SAS Orchestra students perform highly outside of the classroom as well.

They set a school record with 12 OKMEA All State Orchestra members in 2018. They also had more students audition and become part of All State than any other high school in Oklahoma. We had 25 North Central Honor Orchestra participants, including middle and high school students.

With continued superior ratings in State Competitions, the CSAS Orchestra demonstrates dedication and attention to detail. From the youngest student to the seniors, our orchestra continues to challenge the status quo as they strive to become musicians and people of excellence.

My Project

An extended keyboard will allow students to use our iPad to work on musical compositions. They get excited to create their own works. This gives them an outlet during the school day to use that creative energy. The keyboard will also allow us to work on theory assignments in the future. As we transition to a new building in the next year, this can be an exciting part of our new classroom. Having the external keyboard will also give me (as the teacher) ease in moving around the room to collaborate with students. This will be a great tool for us.
