Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are eager 8th graders that attend a public school in a very big city. The majority (98%) come from low income families. The neighborhood is constantly changing and not for the better.
These kids still come to school and try their best even though they are dealing with family problems and safety issues I never had to worry about as a student.
We do not get many resources in the public school and classrooms are very crowded. My students know that they are capable of reaching any dream as long as they work hard. They want to be challenged.
The one thing all of my students have in common is their inquisitive minds. Nothing brings my students together better than exploring the world through STEM. They love to create and imagine and think outside of the box. They enjoy challenges and never give up until they finish their task. Every little bit helps! My Project
Technology has become an integral part of the classroom. With growing class sizes, it has become increasingly more difficult to have resources for every child.
Having the set of Chromebooks will allow for different structures of learning in my classroom.
One way they will be used is as a digital station during learning. Students can type in links that will send them straight to education videos and extend their learning beyond what takes place in the classroom.They will be able to take their knowledge to a new level by diving deeper into the content and doing more research.
These Chromebooks will help bring technology into the STEM classroom. My students will be able to work in centers and explore many more topics to prepare for their futures. There are many new and exciting programs to be used in the classroom, and it will be much easier to bring them into their world with your help.
